 Board Announcement – December 2018

Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone, we have Christmas to look forward to and spend with family and friends. The Board wishes your families a safe and enjoyable holiday. We also hope to see many of you at this month’s Holiday Event.

Here are the latest updates:

December 11th Annual Holiday Event – Per our recent announcement to all Chapter members, this year’s event will be held at the Scottsdale Resort at McCormick Ranch in Scottsdale from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Our speakers include full-time freelance writer, consultant, and entrepreneur Mr. Alan Korwin, presenting on “Ethics and Fraud in Journalism”. In addition, Monica Klapper and Kathleen Neri are back by popular demand and will be presenting on “White Collar Crime Investigations”. This event provides 4 CPE hours (including 2 hours of ethics) and will include our annual holiday luncheon, charity drive, and raffle. Chapter members pay $50 and non-members $75. Please spread the word and encourage your non-member colleagues to consider attending this event. Besides the great speakers, food and associated events, they will earn 4 hours of CPE.

Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) – Please consider bringing a food gift card or present to the Holiday Event to support our efforts to sponsor an approved family from the Arizona State DES Division of Disabilities. Anyone bringing an item from the family’s wish list will receive a raffle ticket to win great prizes. This organization serves families that may have trouble making ends meet financially as they support loved ones with a disability. Information about the family and their wish list is provided below:

General Family Description:

This family is going through a lot right now but remains close. They have to move out of their home on short notice due to circumstances beyond their control and they do not know where they will be moving to. Mom is taking care of the four kids on her own on a very limited income. She has been trying to find work but has been unsuccessful.

Here is what Mom had to say to describe her family:

“My kids and I like to go hiking. I take my kids to the little park by us. My special time is family movie night. Every Friday or Saturday we watch a movie together. At Christmas time we would get in the car and drive around and look at lights, but we don’t have a car anymore, so I take them for a walk and look at them. No matter how cold or the fact they have to walk, they still enjoy it. For everything they have been through, they are still happy and energetic kids. I am so grateful for that.”

AZ ACFE Membership fees range from $35 to $55 annually (for CFEs and non-CFEs, respectively) and include 8 regular, one-hour accredited presentations (special seasonal events are an additional nominal fee) and which are all NASBA certified. Please tell your friends and co-workers about us and ask them to consider joining our Chapter.

AZ Chapter T-Shirts – The Board provides Chapter members the ability to purchase official AZ Chapter t-shirts that have our Chapter logo on them. T-shirts can be purchased by cash or check at the Holiday Event for $10.00.

Thank you and we look forward to meeting you at future events.
