President’s Message

I think it’s safe to say that most of us are pretty glad that 2020 is over. And although 2021 is not off to a great start, there is hope that it will be a better year for all of us.

In order to deal with the COVID-19 situation, we were forced to transition to Zoom presentations for our training for most of the last year. Thanks to our partnership with the Phoenix IIA chapter, we were able to provide virtual training for both of our chapter members.

The AZ ACFE board members and directors came up with a plan for how to conduct our sessions once we were able to return to live training. In order to allow our members who might not be able to regularly drive to Downtown Phoenix to still have the opportunity to attend the training, we decided to move to a live/Zoom hybrid model.

We purchased AV equipment and the chapter now has our own Zoom account. Once it is possible for us to host in-person training again, we will start doing live Zoom broadcasts of our sessions. This will give members a choice of methods to attend the training.

Unfortunately, we can’t say right now when we will be able to host live training again. It is our goal to do so as soon as it is safe for our members, but at this time we don’t know when that will be.

If you have any suggestions for training topics or you have a person who you think would be a good presenter for one of our sessions, please contact us at [email protected]

The biggest challenge that all of the chapters face is finding relevant and interesting training presentations, and the logistics around locating presenters and getting them to the chapter meetings.

During the last year that I have been your president, I have come to realize that the most important function of our chapter is to provide good training for our members, and to make sure that our presentations meet the requirements of the ACFE and NASBA.

As a reminder, it is time to renew if you have not done so already for Calendar Year 2021. If your membership has expired and you would like to renew or have any questions about membership, please email [email protected].
